Karissa Duquette, receptionist at the CPRA Office in Airdrie. “It’s kind of the dream job, I guess you could say. I’ve been so interested in rodeo my entire life. A real highlight of this job was it’s more of the back side of things. I never saw this as a competitor: I was never a professional. That’s why I wanted to work at the professional rodeo office so badly. I’d been part of high school rodeo, college rodeo, amateur associations. You never see what’s going on behind the scenes. You just see what’s there when you’re getting ready for your run. You see the judges, you see the timers, you see the crowd, but you don’t see what’s going on when you’re buying your membership or when you’re paying your fees over the phone. And now I get to see all that. So I’ve kind of come full circle and it’s the coolest thing.”
