Founded in 1919, the Falkland Stampede takes place each May. In her history of the community, Marjorie Selody explains that, in the early days, the Stampede’s organizing committees were made up of men. Women working on the rodeo formally did so through “the ladies’ committee,” which provided and prepared all the food for the event.
Today, the Rodeo Manager and most of the office and organizing staff at the Falkland Stampede are women.
