Introducing Alex

Sound Recordist Alex Shamku has been working in production and post-production film sound since 2010. He graduated with honours from the Vancouver Film School Sound Design program in 2013, and now focuses on production sound recording for short form projects. Alex has worked on media productions for the National Film Board of Canada, Vice, CBC, Telus, and NBC. Recent credits include the feature documentary ‘Lost in the Shuffle’, the Crazy8s film ‘Weeds Are Flowers, Too’, the Arts with Impact Grant recipient ‘Once Upon A Time’, the NFB feature documentary ‘Unarchived’ and the CBC feature documentary ‘Satan Wants You’. Alex has been nominated for seven Leo Awards and won twice, sharing the award in 2017 for the short Documentary ‘SRORRIM’ and in 2021 for the short drama ‘Mom vs Machine’.
